This year's honorees were Benjamin Blakney, President, Mesirow Institutional Real Estate Direct Investments; Michele Chow-Tai, Managing Director of Business Development, Fairview Capital; and Thomas K. Lee, Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer, New York State Teachers' Retirement System. The Trailblazer Award was presented to The Honorable Carmen Sierra, Treasurer of the City of Hartford, Connecticut. Eric Smith, CEO and Co-Founder, participated on the Private Credit Panel, "The Best Is Yet To Come," which explored the expanding role of private credit in institutional portfolios.
With the asset class projected to reach $3 trillion by 2028, the panel brought together allocators and practitioners to discuss strategies including middle market direct lending, asset-backed lending, secondaries, co-investments, European-focused funds, and litigation finance, with discussion centered on return expectations, liquidity profiles, and risk premiums.
